My WAN offers EarthLink Business products and services in partnership with Caleidoscope Communications.
One Communications Inc. is now part of Atlanta-based telecommunications company EarthLink Inc.
EarthLink on Friday, April 1, 2011 announced it had finalized the $370 million acquisition of One Communications, which has its operational headquarters in Rochester.
Based in suburban Boston, telecom company One employs 1,500, including close to 600 locally.
One's customers were primarily in the Northeast, upper Midwest and Mid-Atlantic states, while EarthLink's are centered in the South.
Because of the lack of overlap geographically and operationally, "there should be no significant impact to employees or facilities" in Rochester, spokeswoman Michele Sadwick said.
EarthLink announced it was buying One in December — the same month it finalized its purchase of Alabama-based telecom ITC DeltaCom Inc.
According to EarthLink, it is planning to use those two acquisitions as the backbone of a move from being primarily an Internet services provider to offering a variety of business communications services.
One will be put into EarthLink's new EarthLink Business division.
Over the next 90 days, EarthLink plans to phase out the One Communications brand name, Sadwick said.
One was formed in 2006 by the merger of Choice One Communications, CTC Communications and Conversent Communications.
